Being motivated can be very difficult for some people so keep in mind, everyone is different.


Here are some strategies that I use when struggling with motivation that may also help you! Strategies include:

  • Writing down some goals

  • Using rewards

  • Making a workout plan

  • Creating a routine

  • Surrounding yourself with positive people

When creating a goal, you have to make sure it is realistic. Start with setting a short term goal, a medium term goal and a long term goal. Make sure to write these down as it can help you to visually see the goal and will assist you to see your goals more clearly which will help to create change in how you act! To help me set my goals and then follow them, I use a fitness journal, a white board, a daily diary and a desk pad! However, just one of these resources will have a huge impact on achieving your goals! Committing to your goals everyday and telling yourself that "YOU GOT THIS!!" will improve your mindset and increase your motivation! Using rewards may or my not work in your favour but they are definitely something that works for me! Your reward may simply be the feeling of satisfaction and being happy with yourself! Another reward may include a sneaky treat at the end of your workout or the end of a successful day or buying yourself a present (I like to buy activewear hehe!). Getting that summer bod you've always wanted may be that reward you're looking for! Every morning I like to write myself a workout plan. I include what type of workout I will be doing (eg HITT, lower body, upper body etc.), what exercises I will include and a goal for that workout, for example, not having big rests between sets. If you struggle to create a workout you could try looking one up on YouTube or Instagram or even follow one off my fitness account on Instagram @sculptbyskyla. I'm always open for new workout ideas so if there is something you would like to see, DM me! Creating a routine and following it is another way I stay motivated. Everyday I try to tick off my list of things in my daily routine. Activities in my routine that I complete every single day include going for a walk, doing a workout, completing some meditation/yoga, drinking a certain amount of water, finishing assignments and so on. I try to stick to a routine daily to help myself accomplish my goals and experience a day to day flow! Surrounding yourself with positive like-minded people is one of the main impacts on your motivation and mindset. Blocking out unnecessary drama and negative people is something that helped me to start pursing my dreams and goals. Positive people with always inspire you to do better, they will support you through anything and help you get to where you want to be. I couldn't do anything I do today if it wasn't for the people around me who constantly encourage me!
